Hand built in porcelain, this bowl has a translucent blue glaze inside and the underside is unglazed, sanded smooth, and decorated using a resist technique - painting a loose underglaze wash over the outside surface, protecting the flowers and heron with varnish and wiping back the excess underglaze. This leaves the design standing slightly produ of the smooth porcelain surface.
